De Vallei van Jerte

Jerte Valley is a small corner in the north of the province of Cáceres that offers some of the most colourful and fascinating scenic experiences in Spain from its gentle hills. The valley runs along the first stretch of the river that names it and is protected by the western foothills of Sierra de Gredos and Sierra de Béjar to the north. Its favourable climatic conditions and the fertility of its land have favoured the development of the traditional and intensive horticulture which characterises it. The expert hand of the inhabitants of the Jerte Valley, in complicity with nature, have created a region with a great deal of personality and incomparable beauty over the centuries.

A valley full of charm and originality

Just under 50 km from the source of Jerte river to Plasencia city, the upper section of the valley is characterised not only by the immensity of cherry trees and other fruit trees, which flood its hills with colour during blossom but also by other natural and cultural gems that will awaken your senses. The joyful energy of its waters, the falling leaves in their show of autumnal colours, or the villages with a deep Castilian flavour all over the valley, you can discover here the essence of the valley from the hand of its people.
